My First Pot
Here is my first go at throwing a pot on a wheel. I really loved doing it and am quietly proud it doesn't suck that much.

That's More Like It
Here is my second version of the home made handbag journal (see below) - Much happier with this one, far more ME.
As this has a distressed look anyway, even if the corners do get a bit frayed it will add to the look of it.
Hmm work in progress.
As I have recently started journaling again I wanted a way to do it without carrying art supplies and a huge A4 journal everywhere (decided to work bit this time).
I decided to make myself a small journal to go wherever I do where I can make observations, sketches and notes which can then be put into the proper journal when I get home. So I made This:
It wasn't going to have a proper cover on it in the beginning but I was thinking maybe it would be a nice gift for somebody who likes to draw or write or who wants a small bragging book.
It is simply bound by cutting 8" x 4" paper of choice then scoring and folding in half. These are stapled (I admit I do have a special stapler for lots of sheets and with a long arm) into three little books measuring 4" x 4". These are then glued at the very edge together and bound by a piece of cardstock measuring 4" + how deep your spine is " + 4 ". Mine was about .25" deep. Allow a tiny bit more for the cover.
Here is a closeup of the binding.
The ribbon is glued underneath the cardstock which is scored and glued securely to the outside pages and spine of the "book"
I am not completely satisfied with how this worked out colour wise, may have to tweak it a bit, let me know what you think. I had a little play at decorating it but have an idea that may work better next time.
Also wondering how to protect the corners, my corner round them, corner stickers ???
Hope you like and e-mail me for any questions.

My Promise
Ok, as I find it so hard to make time to be creative in any way these days I am taking the opportunity to declare here, on my new blog, that I promise myself the time to at least fill in one page of an art journal every day.
I have decided to not carry it about with me (restricting size and materials etc) but to make notes in a small pad throughout the day and then add any thoughts or sketches etc in the evening.
As this is a journal I won't bore you with it unless there is a drawing or artwork I am particularly proud of.
My Mojo is fine just looking for some space to let it free and that isn't possible right now so a journal should really fit the bill both for my expression and to capture some of the changes and observations going on right now.
First step to buy the journal, hopefully I will be able to update on that very soon.

Quick Idea
Let's just say that I am sick of having a bright blue plastic bag popping out of my handbag embarrassing me! So, for this little emergency item I decided that there was no reason not to make it look nice. If you want to know how I did it please e-mail me and I will give you the outline. Now it looks lovely in my handbag and it will probably be used before it gets too knocked about. Then I will just make another one in a different colour.
